Itinerary

Check in at 12.30 and settle into your suite. Take a tour of Bagan and visit the Minanthu village, the Thone Zu Pagoda, a brick factory and a jaggery workshop.
Meals: dinner
In the early morning before breakfast, you can take a balloon tour over Bagan (extra charge and subject to availability) and see the landscape of pagodas from above or watch the sun rise from a temple with a meditation expert. In the morning you will visit a jaggery workshop and a traditional village on the way to Mount Popa where you have the chance to make a food offering. After a picnic lunch visit a Nat Shrine and Taung Kalat. On your return to Bagan, you will visit the "veritable museum of stones" known as Ananda Temple, the Htilominlo Temple which belonged to the last of the temple builders, and discover the local craft of lacquerware making in a workshop in Myinkaba.

A meditation and yoga session will be available before breakfast. Enjoy a full day cruise on board our ship up the Ayeyarwady River, arriving at Mandalay in time for sunset.

After an early breakfast visit the Mahamuni and Kathodaw pagodas, the Shwenandaw monastery and a gold leaf beating workshop in Mandalay. After lunch you will visit Ava and see the the Bagaya monastery, a brick monastery and watch tower by horse cart. Visit the holy Sagaing hills, the important religious and monastic centre, and stop by a convent, the Soon U Ponya Shin Pagoda and a silversmith. You will then be driven to Amarapura and visit a textile workshop before visiting the U Bein Bridge, the longest and oldest teak wood Bridge in the world, in time for sunset.

In the morning our ship will sail upstream until it reaches a Burmese teak forestwhere you can meet some working elephants. Our ship will continue sailing further upstream where you will travel by that towards Mogok where you will see the forest reserve in which there many rare botanical specimens used for production of essential oils.

Our ship will continue sailing upstream passing rural villages on its way. In the afternoon you can walk around Kyan Hnyat village where you can see children on their way back from school and the local market.

In the morning you will visit Katha, the town made famous by George Orwell in his book 'Burmese Days', by trishaw including a trip to the market. Our ship will continue sailing south with the mountains coming into view. In the afternoon enjoy a smaller boat ride to the industrious port of Shwegu and beyond to visit a typical Shan village and its people.
Enjoy a Shan style dinner in the evening.

In the morning you will visit the town of Bhamo where you can see the local market. Our ship will sail back towards Shwe Paw and in the afternoon our ship will sail through the second gorge and pass logging camps and the old colonial village of Zinbon.

Our ship will arrive at Shwe Paw Island where you will visit its ancient pagodas. Our ship will continue sailing south and during the afternoon you will visit the riverside village of Mae Dar.

In the early morning guests can disembark and take a train to the forest station of Naba and journey into the thick Kachin jungle and teak forests. During the afternoon our ship will sail towards Nwe Nyein.

In the morning take a walking tour of New Nyein and watch the local craft of traditional clay pot sculpting. In the late morning continue sailing and pass the island pagoda of Thihadaw. At around lunchtime our ship will sail through the 3rd Defile, the third of the three gorges.

Early morning breakfast and check out at 6.30am.For guests leaving on a later flight, you can take a tour of Mandalay (extra charge and subject to availability) which includes visiting the Mahamuni and Kathodaw pagodas, the Shwenandaw monastery and a gold leaf beating workshop.
