Top Things To Do In Bagan

If your visit to Cambodia is incomplete without visiting Angkor, your exploration of Myanmar should include Bagan as a must. This famous world heritage site possesses a mesmerizing beauty with thousands of pagodas and temples back to XI century and features one of the richest archeaological sites in Asia

There are many things to do in Bagan but there are something we strongly suggest you to do once step into this land of pagoda.

Balloon Over Bagan

The best way to photograph Bagan`s panorama from bottom till the top. This experience requires a early rise up but it is very rewarding. You will be astounded and amazed by the stunning and diversity of the temples and stupas below you. With the Irrawaddy River, a life-giving companion, to the west and mountains to the east, your flight of a lifetime will carry you over the temples and fields of this historic plain.
Ensure you book the ride in advance since it is often fully-booked from Oct to March every year.

Enjoy Hightea in a temple terrace

This unique experience is designed for those who want to enjoy the tranquility of Bagan, escaping from the crowd yet still have a great chance to behold the magical of Bagan from a less-visited temple. Climb the stairs to the upper terrace and enjoy an afternoon tea filled with local fruits and sweet delicacies while spotting the haunting spires from far.

Explore Bagan treasure on a horse cart

Your appreciation of Bagan will be much more interesting if you take a bike or horse drawn cart. I personally choose horse cart trip as you will have some nice interaction with the Burmese rider.
Temples are very accessible by horse cart, you will have the freedom as you prefer and surely the knowledge of your friendly driver will be something you like. He will be able to guide you through some of the remotest villages, showing you the farm and traditional work of Bagan such as lacquerware, distilling peanut oil or palm.

Visit Nyang Oo market, do cooking class

The morning market of Nyang Oo attracts many local people and it is a nice place to interact, exploring the daily life of Bagan.
Spend time exploring the stalls where fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs and meats are for sale as well as chilies, pastes and other sauces used in local cuisine.
The cooking class either in New Bagan or in a hotel will demonstrate some of the most famous Bagan`s favourite including salad and other traditional dishes.

Spotting sunset / sunrise

Most of photographers admit Bagan is one of the best place to shoot sunrise/ sunset in Asia. While many tourists flocks into Shwesandaw, a famous pagoda to do this, we suggest you 2 ways to make your photo remarkable :

Spotting from a secret temple
It is not difficult to find a spotting point amongst 2500 temples of Bagan but it is not written in any guidebook. Here are some temples you can lay your camera on: Pathada, North Guni temple and Lawkaoushaung Temple. ( there are more if you ask our travel expert )

Spotting from a river cruise
With the reflection of Irrawaddy River, your lighting photo will be precious.
To do this, you only have to arrange the cruise in 1 day in advance.
